Nothing But The Truth is one of the greatest courtroom dramas that nobody has heard of. The film stars Kate Beckinsale and was written and directed by Rod Lurie (The Contender, The Last Castle, The Outpost). Like Lurie's The Contender, Nothing But The Truth features a superstar cast, including Alan Alda, Matt Dillon, Vera Farmiga, and Angela Bassett, but unlike his 2000 political thriller with Jeff Bridges, Joan Allen, and Gary Oldman, Nothing But The Truth quickly faded into obscurity.
In Nothing But The Truth, a journalist (Beckinsale) finds herself in a dilemma and at odds with the federal government over national security after her exposé revealed a cover-up. Does she give up her source or stand by her principles and endure emotional abuse? The movie keeps you wondering until the source is finally revealed.
Surprisingly, I didn't see Kate Beckinsale utter a word on social media about Nothing But The Truth, in which she delivered yet another exceptional performance.
Nothing But The Truth is so criminally underrated, and it is among my top favorite movie gems.
