Logan's Run is like a cross between George Lucas' THX 1138 and Kurt Wimmer's Equilibrium, which was inspired by Ray Bradbury's sci-fi novel Fahrenheit 451.
Logan's Run is about a society of youth and pleasure, but it is a dystopian future where people do not live over 30. Anybody who dares to be a Runner and tries to live beyond that age is hunted down and terminated by enforcers called the Sandmen. Michael York plays a Sandman who is assigned to infiltrate and take down an organization of Runners.
Logan's Run had amazing visual effects for 1976—then Star Wars came out the following year. Some of the visuals in Logan's Run may appear dated now, but it still holds up as a science fiction classic, and I believe it is primed for a remake.
