The movie had some of the biggest names in Hollywood. It was headlined by Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer (Imagine Entertainment), executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Jon Favreau, and it was directed by Favreau. Somehow, Cowboys & Aliens didn't seem to click that much with audiences in 2011.
Cowboys & Aliens is not your typical alien invasion movie, as its premise was surprisingly fresh — aliens in a Western.
But I'd say Cowboys & Aliens is about 65% Western and 35% sci-fi action. Perhaps moviegoers were expecting more of the latter?
Anyway, given the recent talk about UFOs and aliens, Cowboys & Aliens may not have been a huge hit, but I think it's certainly worth another look.
