When I first saw him in The Last Samurai, I immediately became a fan of Hiroyuki Sanada. His character had little dialogue, yet he was so memorable through his mannerisms and facial expressions. Hiroyuki Sanada has been in a couple of films that I featured in MOVIE OF THE WEEK, 47 Ronin and Sunshine, and there's another recommended film with the Shōgun star.
In action fight scenes, Hiroyuki Sanada was usually wielding a sword, so when I saw him in the 2021 Mortal Kombat reboot in martial arts hand-to-hand combat, I was like 😳.
In addition to Hiroyuki Sanada, Mortal Kombat has great casting for Kano and Sonya Blade.
Based on the very popular and controversial fighting video game from the 1990s, Mortal Kombat is faithful to its origins with its violence and unforgettable characters. Mortal Kombat may be tailored for a younger audience and fans of the original arcade games, but it's still fun and highly entertaining for general audiences.
