Because they were snowed in over the weekend, numerous people in the U.S. were asking for movie recommendations on Threads, particularly on Netflix. There have been many outstanding films from the streaming service, many of which I have featured in Ted's MOVIE OF THE WEEK.
This week's selection is Netflix's Uprising, released in 2024. The historical action epic drama starts shortly before Japan invaded Korea in 1592, which started the Imjin War, and is about a boy who is a slave and befriends the young son of the master he served.
The plot can be confusing upon first viewing because the story spans several years, and there are a few flashbacks that may not be immediately obvious. Nonetheless, despite its wartime violence, Uprising is a beautiful, gripping story about two friends who grew up together and later became enemies.
