Nemesis

Just because a film is categorized as a B-movie, it doesn't mean it has to have low production value. Nemesis, case in point, has top-notch action and cinematography.

Nemesis is a cyberpunk action thriller, a genre that was very popular in the 1990s. The movie is unique in its own right, but if you had to compare it to other films, Nemesis is like a cross between The Terminator and Blade Runner. Nemesis takes place in the year 2027, when humans are on the verge of war with cyborgs (cybernetic organisms), but in this film, the line between good and bad is not always clear-cut.

The cast of Nemesis is mostly unknowns, except for Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, another great actor gone too soon. I hope he won't be remembered just for Mortal Kombat, as he had a very long filmography. 47 Ronin and Nemesis are two of my favorites with the Japanese-American actor.

Nemesis didn't achieve the phenomenal success of The Terminator, which was also technically a low-budget film, but Nemesis has become a cult classic and is a must-see for any fan of science fiction. And it has Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa.

Rest in peace, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa.
