Scent of a Woman

I recently rewatched Scent of a Woman on LaserDisc (yes, that LaserDisc), totally forgetting that I own a Digital HD copy of the movie. I hadn't seen the film in many years and came to realize categorizing it isn't as simple as just calling it a drama. It's partly a tear-jerking comedy, which seems like an odd combination, but it works in Scent of a Woman. The movie is essentially about loneliness and suicide, yet Al Pacino makes it highly entertaining and enjoyable.

Scent of a Woman was the first movie I saw Chris O'Donnell in, and he was a perfect casting choice to play opposite Al Pacino, who won an Oscar for Best Actor for his performance. With a running time of over two hours and thirty minutes, the movie doesn't seem that long. From the director of Beverly Hills Cop and Midnight Run, Scent of a Woman is another classic film from Martin Brest.
