Ballerina

She had a brief appearance in No Time To Die, but Ana de Armas made such an impression and was so badass that I half-jokingly had been saying her character, Paloma, in the James Bond film should have her own spin-off movie.

Paloma doesn't have her own film, but there is something just as satisfying. Ballerina, with Ana de Armas in the title role, surprisingly exceeded my expectations because I was basically thinking it was just going to be a female version of John Wick.

And I thought maybe Keanu Reeves was just going to make a quick cameo in Ballerina, but John Wick was integral to the film's story, which takes place between John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4.

In addition to its beautiful cinematography, Ballerina brought a lot of fresh material to the John Wick world with respect to the action fight sequences and a very thoughtful story. And that's what good sequels and spin-off films should do. They shouldn't just rehash old material.

Ballerina was directed by Len Wiseman, known for the Underworld films and the Total Recall remake, which starred his former wife, Kate Beckinsale. So he's hardly new to directing great action and storytelling.

Ballerina is hands down one of my top favorite action films of all time, and I look forward to what the producers and directors will bring next from the world of John Wick, especially with Ana de Armas as the assassin Eve Macarro.

Halle Berry played another ass-kicking character in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, and with her backstory about her daughter, I've also thought Sofia Al-Azwar deserves her own movie. I would love to see Halle Berry and Ana de Armas team up for another John Wick spin-off.
