Kandahar

Interpreters are among the most underappreciated members of the U.S. military.

In Kandahar, Gerard Butler plays an MI6 operative working for the CIA. With his cover blown, his mission has been compromised, and he and his Afghan-American translator have to escape Afghanistan, all the while being chased by Iranians and Pakistanis. And if that weren't enough, there's the Taliban and ISIS.

While the film is fiction, Kandahar reminds how the line between friend and foe can be blurred among certain nations. Kandahar is another excellent action movie starring Gerard Butler, but it's also a little tribute to the men and women who played a vital role serving as interpreters for Americans overseas.
