Iron Sky

When it comes to movies, you probably don't think of the country Finland, but Iron Sky is a movie gem. I had waited a long time for this Finnish film to come back to streaming services, and its return could not have come at a better time.

Idiocracy has been mentioned on social media due to certain recent events in the United States, but Iron Sky is a another satirical sci-fi comedy that explores American politics and German Nazism. Released in 2012, Iron Sky takes place in the "future" year of 2018, when Nazis are discovered living on the moon.

Epic is not a term you would generally use for comedy movies, but Iron Sky is an exception. There are scenes and space battles that were clearly inspired by Star Wars. The visual effects are top-notch, and Iron Sky was exceptionally well-directed.

And if you want more, I recommend watching the sequel, Iron Sky: The Coming Race.

We are living in some unbelievably stupid times when lies, political nonsense, and all kinds of ism and phobia have become so prevalent. Some may even say it's De-Evolution at work. Many years from now (if humans are still around), they're going to make historical films about our present, and they could end up looking like a hilarious comedy, just like Iron Sky.
