"Eliminate extremism, and we would be one step closer to world peace."
Loosely based on actual events, The Kingdom, starring Jamie Foxx, is about an FBI team that goes to investigate a terrorist attack on an American housing compound in Saudi Arabia. Osama bin Laden and most of the 9/11 terrorists were Saudi nationals. The story of the film takes place after September 11, 2001, and while it's fictional, it gives a perspective on the world of extremism and the vicious cycle of violence to fight it.
Peter Berg is an underrated filmmaker, and even though he made a name for himself with Lone Survivor and Deepwater Horizon, The Kingdom may still be his best film so far.
